TEHRAN -- The second round of negotiations between Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar and Azerbaijani Defense Industry Minister Yavar Jamalov was held in Tehran on Wednesday.

In their discussions on the most recent developments in bilateral relations between Tehran and Baku, the two officials emphasized the need to increase defense cooperation.

Jamalov praised the achievements of Iran’s defense industry, citing its advanced technology and strong infrastructure.

Najjar said that Iran is prepared to strengthen cooperation with the Azerbaijan Republic and provide the country its defense industry needs.

Tehran–Baku defense cooperation can promote peace, security, and stability in the region, he added.

He went on to say that ensuring that security is in the hands of regional countries is the only way to establish stability in the region, adding that this can only be achieved through regional cooperation.

The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes any initiative that would lead to the restoration of peace and stability to the region without the presence of foreign forces, he explained.
